Found a thread where a guy replaced the OEM 4 blade fan with one with many 9 blades. "Just replace my fan with a replacement one from a TDM 900 Yamaha 2004-2010 model. Fits in the original housing. Just need 2x5mm holes drilling.see photos."KZ1300 LHS, TDM 900 RHS.
Swap outer's and inners is the plan..
These screws came out easy.
OEM fan, not so much. Had to make a 'driving' post to use an impact screwdriver in order not bend the housing.
Whack Whack.

If you decide to make this mod, I'll happily rent you the special test fixture!
For a nominal fee, of course!

This is deluxe model. It has a recessed hole so the screw end has somewhere to call home.
Whack Whack.

My OEM fan housing didn't align as nicely as the feller who thought this idea up. Used clips to help 'space' the motor/housing.
Like this. FJR1300 fairing clips worked perfect.

After careful consideration, decided to 'unfold' the ridge to gain purchase on some
some metal for a new hole. Yes, I know this reduced the housing strength. It may
even crack sometime during the next 40 years...

Ready for the paint department.
I have no real fabrication capabilites. Maybe someday a Tig welder, brake, etc...

This might work after all!

TDM fan bearing part number.

Propellor removed, mounted up good.

Another 4 hours of my life gone.. LOL.
In place.

Old fan had a crack working... only a matter of time..

More later.

Following. I'm interested to hear if it's obvious that the airflow has increased.

My little son owns a 2018 Z650.

Some time ago he had an accident and I had to change several parts of the bike, including the radiator that I already bought used with the fan mounted.

I have the old fan and looking closely it can be attached to the old Z1300 bracket with little modification with the three screws that hold it together.

For the record
1979-1982 kz1300's used a 4 blade fan part # 59041-1001
1983-1988 used a 7 blade fan # 59041-1051
and of course the fan motors are different part numbers so it may not be a direct fit.

When i did my conversion , I bought a fan from a ZRX1200 and cut the shroud and welded it on to the to the mount ring. After testing the output, I would guess the 7 blade fan put out  30-40 % more air than the 4 blade fan.
