it's not a B2 as they had the pickups behind the block. Your pickups are on RH end of crank.

The clutch cover looks like voyager to me as does the rear left hand cover with the squarer profile and oil filler. Sorry, I don't know much about the later engines as I've only ever worked on A1 & B2

looks like my engine from my DFI although it doesnt have the oil feed pipe going to the back of the CCT
maybe the second alternator is used on the voyagers.
to get your flywheel off use the rear wheel spindle. screw it into the hole then when it bottoms out gently tap the end while turning it.

Here are the engine numbers from my '84 Voyager (first pic) and my '85 Voyager.

Dual alternators and the smaller clutch are good indicators that it is either from a ZG or a ZN. Kawasaki realized that they were burning up alternators when the move towards more and more lights and accessories, including fuel injection control, on full-dresser touring bikes started, so they bumped up the power output by adding a second alternator for the ZN's as well as changing to a smaller diameter clutch but adding a fifth spring. Since all I know much about is the Voyager, I can only guess that the ZG got the same engine as the Voyager to simplify tooling and supply.

My 2c worth is that you have a ZN engine. At least treat it as a ZN. All Voyagers (83-88) used the same engine until the six was discontinued.

Ist Pic shows the A1 and and A2 Mounting arrangements for your pick ups
2nd Pic shows what I believe is an A3 Engine that I have note there are no apertures for mounting anything
3rd Pic shows my A4 motor note the blanked apertures in the block.

Thanks everyone for your help.
I will go ahead and do a top end transplant on my A3. I will have to take it apart to do this so I will get up close and personel with both engines. I will figure it out as I go.

The frame and other parts are at the powder coat shop. I will hit the engine this week.

I will keep you guys updated.

Fyi, it's definitively ZN engine most likely an 83 or early 84. They are the same anyway.

The cylinder block looks as good as the cams. :woohoo: Sweet.... I've got myself a good set of barels. It's like winning the lotery.
This engine has little running time.

As far as I can tell the cylinder block is exactly the same as the A3.
The head needs a valve job. There are small differences between heads but nothing to be worried about. I will be using the matching cyl. Blck and head, so.
