Keep them coming KawaBCN. Love to hear stories from the past. We need to keep the site alive with something, if not topics on repairs or restorations or stories of the past, then recent rides through our beautiful country sides.

Some my best vacations have been flying to Europe and going on a river cruise. Stopping in new cities everyday and exploring the local area. if I thought about how to make those trips better, it would be to rent a motorcycle at every day stop and travel through the areas and meet up with the boat in the next area. I prefer riding naked sport bikes that I can throw through the twisties. The CBX was a favorite of mine but not for pushing the limits in the corners. It was the massive motor, the Candy Glory Red paint and the exhaust tune of a Ferrari at 9,000 rpm that had me hooked. I just can't bring myself to spending $20K on a CBX and that's how I ended up with the KZ1300. I can't wait to be finished this latest project, a 3 season sunroom for the wife, then I can get back to working on the KZ1300. And it will be Candy Glory Red. I already have the House of Kolor Paint and can't wait to see it all come together.

Hey Kawboy, friend of mine did his Z1300 in the exact colour (red) as the CBX. here the result:
Just that you (and all) get an idea how it looks like. I like it ...

Awesome Holger. Thanks for the pics !!

I'm going full on spoofing mine. I had decals made up in the exact font and wording as the CBX. On the top of the tank there's a decal that says "Double Overhead Cam  24 valve" so the decal I had made says "Double Overhead Cam 12 valve"
The side cover decal will say KZ XIII  similar to the CB X.

I'll also put the black stripe down the center of the tank and tailpiece. The side covers will be satin black. What I'm trying to do is make it a look a like to the CBX and on second glance it will be water cooled ??

Ha, you're nuts. And that is a positive statement - keep in mind, better be crazy than boring.

I am trying in my mind to figure out how that would look like. Please post the result as soon as you have anything to show, the decals are a very good teaser ...
