Sorry, late to the party to update on goings-on.

I have been itching to get a new project and had been eyeing the Gran Touring that went for too much money for me last week. But I haven't even got my own bike back yet as the guy fitting my bespoke exhaust is having issues with cylinder number 1.....

I moved it forward to make room for the rear sets and didn't think about whether the exhaust downpipe would still fit.... as I didn't have one at the time. Lesson learnt - look forward all the way before you mess with things.

He can still get round it, but I just caused him issues (anything made on his jig didn't fit anymore...). Hopefully finished this week. Still need a number plate though!

But the new project will probably be a 1973 Moto Guzzi 850 as I have found a completely re-built engine plus an old frame, and I have been asked by a friend to build him a bobber out of that. Plans are OK in my head, but as this is a shafty as well... options for the rear end (fat tyre size, disc brake and he wants a rigid frame) are limited.

Anyway, I'm planning still and will see where I end up.

Looks like we were looking at the same bike. I called down to Ashbourne yesterday to have a look at the bike and it's very straight. Everything was in place and no sign of it being butchered with a screw driver or chisel. The paint was peeling off the cylinder barrels and crank cases and everything else was faded with the Californian Sun. This would have made a nice restoration project but went for £500 more than I wanted to pay.
