Left BC in -5c wet-n-ugly conditions and just returned to +18 and the snow is gone ! Good timing ! Varadero was in the high 30'sc and 95+ humidity. The ocean was 28c ! Every thing was perfect ! ...and no mal-functions !!!!!

Welcome back !! Hope you had the time of your life. You sure picked a great time to ditch Canada for a few weeks. Man it's been downright ugly for weather. you didn't miss a damned thing.

That Antinov looks like the perfect jump plane. Elevator high on the fuselage and a stall speed of 30 mph. You could have the pilot run it into a headwind and almost park it in the air while the group get out on a jump. 1000 hp - probably needed 800 of that just to get the thing moving on the runway.;) Its probably been in Cuba since the cold war. Russian aircraft in Cuba, whoda guessed !!
Cheers,
KB

The Antonov in this case and I suspect most by now, have a POLISH ( Hey Stan) engine. After a couple of hand rotations via the prop. to clear the oil from the bottom Cyl's., The pilots sets his throttle and mixture - hits the starter engagment and the engine fires up within one rotation. Unlike some of our 1300's. !
