I've been working my butt off to try to get under roof ahead of the winter weather. Didn't make it. No snow yet but it can't be far away. I did get all the rafters up today and managed to pull a tarp over the whole thing. Still got to add the barge rafters (Gable Facias) before I can sheet the roof.

What do you think?

Even the fact that you've got your own design and your own labour this far is a wonderful thing Bill. I will be a unique building for a unique bike . Great work.

Even considering that you CNC Machined the joints on the rafters, that's a lot of work you've got done in a short time. Kudos to you for that. Most would have just stick framed the rafters and gone for a simple 6-12 pitch roof line. Could of had those up in a couple of hours.
Looks like you're 10 or 12 X 16 for a footprint? That will make a nice shop for working on the bikes and sized for simple heating. My shop is way too large for working on a project in. I need a 75000 BTU heater to get it up to temp. I've seriously considered partitioning off a 15 x 25 ft. portion so I don't have to heat the whole thing. I also want to paint the bike near the end of my rebuild and I don't want to have the whole shop open during the painting because the overspray will go over everything. So I can really appreciate your efforts to size the building for purpose.
Oh, and the acoustics in that raduised roofline will be awesome. Can't wait for the first Video of a startup in that shop !!

Your work is beautiful, Bill. I have great admiration for your skills, and much envy due to the fact that I don't have a work shop of any description. Something like the one you are building would be heaven to me, but I don't have any space.
Looking forward to the next post .

Thanks Guys!
The actual size is 11 feet by 16 feet for 176 square feet. The city says I don't need a permit if it's under 200 square feet and less than 10 feet tall. The top of those arched rafters is 118 inches above the driveway.
My use of the bulb joints to make the structural rafters never made economic sense, it was just an fun exercise, labor intensive but fun. I will be installing a few stainless steel cables as collar ties to keep the walls from spreading. They will be approximately 7 1/2 feet (90") above the floor.
Gotta keep pushing to actually get it roofed before the snow arrives.
