Great pics Holger :) That Van Veen looks like a Z1300 but with a washing machine motor installed :lol: Still a handsome bike though. I seem to remember that it used the Wankel rotary engine that Citroen were going to use in the GS model of car but then changed their mind?
And the Munch used an aircooled 4 cylinder engine from an NSU car?

Hey Phil, you got 100 points.

The Van Veen is very rare, only 38 have been built. If you consider that the MAZDA RX8 has approx 1300ccm compared to the Van Veen with roughly 1000 ccm (both Wankel engines) it gives an impression of the power.

I have had the honour to meet Friedel Münch when the prototype of the Münch 2000 had been built, if you try to imagine that he transferred that engine back in 1972 - amazing.

The Münch 2000 is even more rare than the Van Veen, only 13 have ever been built.

I do not know if I should consider them great/ good looking or odd/ weird - nevertheless they are hard to spot.

I have never even seen the last Munch but that Green Water cooled Suzuki is just like the one I had.

Holger, great pics of some iconic bikes - makes you wonder what went wrong when you see most of the new models coming from Japan !

Ive only ever seen one Munch and that was at a classic show, and never seen an OCR: but many years ago a mate of mine had a couple of Van Veen Kreidler (think 50cc race bikes) in his appartment in Amsterdam.

Hey Tonto, thanks

I was not really aware about the connection between Kreidler (very iconic german brand) and Van Veen, however thanks to Wikipedia found some details - amazing 22hp at 17000 rpm with a very narrow band of rpm to use, and all of that from just 50ccm.

That leads my thoughts to the famous RC166 ...
