are you talking about the UK< or the USA?? seems we both have the same issues, our new President is a joke, but more importantly the people who make up our government in this country, are beyond repair, there is no hope for the future of this country. I am sad for our youth and my children, they dont know how good it was when I was a child. What a shame
but this is a topic for another forum,,,,lol

Bill,

Oh I DEFINITELY mean the UK !!

I guess you are right...........conversation for another place & time perhaps, but the Uk is now just a right-off. Awful place to live. Taxed to death & no incentive to do well or be successful other then having it taken off you.

Would rather live in a tent on a beach in Italy than in this dump.

Go to the South of France Pete
There quite a few of Brit expats there. On the BMW site I use there are 4 and they say never go back.

Rick,

To be honest, anywhere is better than here.

Actually my younger sister emigrated to Oz with her husband & 2 kids 6 years ago & loves it. She too states she would NEVER come back to this dump.

I do not screw the cover to the top of my air filter down that way I can lift the seat and put the hair dryer down in the air box and heat the whole boxs and carbs at the same time.

As much as I agree with the above statements, back to the hard starting issue.

recently on the west coast (US) we had a cold snap that lasted a couple of weeks. While the bike was sitting in the garage, I went out and started it and it fired right up. I attribute this easy starting to the following.

*Strong battery.
*Good compression
*Strong spark
*Good fuel delivery in the form of a solid core set of carburetors and at a high state of tune.

I stress the good state of tune part because I view this to be the hardest part of keeping these bikes easy to start. Letting them sit kills them and keeping them running through the winter (If one can) is the best way to keep the rust out of them.
