Actually KZ1300b2, I think you have a bit of a cheek.
A new member coming on an established forum and trying to punt his own version. Just seem like a bit of a brass neck to me.

Got THAT right! It feels like a good ole country store here, with a bunch of guys sitting around the wood stove, leaning back in their chairs on a cold day, just puffing on pipes and sharing ideas about our bikes! And, I can't believe there could be any better data base than the minds and writings found here! And, although I'm not always around, I still feel like a few of the guys here are like brothers to me, like Lucasind, Kawboy, Rick, KZQ(Bill), Lucien. I think LucienHarpress' avatar kinda sums it up!
kza13 is right, "...not as good as here!".

Eh. I kind of see it both ways. While these forums are an excellent resource for 1300 information, and are getting bigger, it's still a pretty niche website. What you gain from a Facebook presence is a wider member base from a younger audience. Some that may not have even HEARD about the KZ1300 before.

I'm on a Naked Goldwing forum that has brought up this same issue of forum vs. Facebook occasionally, and it always boils down to having a broader demographic via facebook vs. more detailed information of the forum.

You also end up with a bit of a Catch-22 with setting up a Facebook group in the first place- most don't because there's no members, but there's no members because there are no groups to join.

I don't fault the OP for attempting to get the big 1300 a Facebook presence. In fact, I'll probably join. Ideally there would be an official KZ1300.com Facebook group that could funnel individuals to the actual forums. The Goldwing forum I mentioned earlier did that, and it seems to work rather well.

BUT, to each his own, of course.
