Globemaster brought up the point that the ZN has an oil feed line going to the chain tensioner. I had a look at Partszilla to see the chain tensioner and it shows an optional oil pressurized chain tensioner, but also shows a manual chain tensioner. If it is the oil fed chain tensioner, note that there is a check valve in the banjo fitting at the tensioner that's suppose to keep the oil in the tensioner at low or no rpm's, so that the cam chain stays reasonably taut at low speed until the revs come up and the oil pressure comes up.

Kawboy, Thanks for elaborating on the ZN1300 cam chain tensioner. I did not know the oil line was for a hydraulic tensioner. My actual ZN1300 experience is zero.

Have you got the workshop manual? That would be a great help to you. Please don't abandon the old girl to the back of the shop. I would be sorry if we did not hear about any more of your adventures aboard that beautiful Voyager 1300!

no
and I think even if I did I could make a bigger mess
When I bought her the guy had an extra one of these

but I can't even figure out what to take off to get to where I can get my hands to where
I can even think about replacing it
I am so used to chopped bikes and having room to work and being able to see what I'm doing
