So perhaps I'll start with a one time  apology because clearly this hasn't been clear ! :S Hope the pictures put a lid on this. The manual refers to "the Bottom edge". I have been referring to this as "the Lip" in an attempt to be more clear. Potatoes/Potahtatas - Tomatos/Tomahtas? :woohoo: So the measurement is taken from the "Bottom Edge" hence forth to be referred to (by me,) as "The Lip".)! Again note that the 7.5 mm level is approximately in the middle of the small "bulge" on the side of the bowl.
Now if I could only find my "Holy Hand-Grenade" !:woohoo:

No apology required Scotch!

Pictures do paint a thousand ... (ambiguities!) but you've quite rightly reminded me of that thin lip around the gasket surface.

The sneaky 6" steel rule slipping between the two surfaces is again a good technique, once the gasket interference is eliminated or accounted for.

Clarification understood and appreciated! : )

So, in other words, it's the same what I pictured? I guess....

That's it Stan, and makes sense that Kawasaki would reference an edge that is visible / accessible, rather than one partially hidden.

The condition of the engine has an effect on the starting. I rebuilt my -82 A4 engine from scratch 7 years ago. I had no statring issues for the first couple of years. As the enginehas collected miles, so far 22000 miles / 35200 km by now, the start after a longer standstill requires a squirt of start pilot.
I will try your conversion Scotch once I have the time to convert my spare carbs.
