My A4 uses the same key for all locks. The cap was a swine to open. Never been oiled in years. I pumped some oil in, pushed down on the cap to take the pressure off the latch, and with a struggle managed to open it. Just the start of my problems, though!!
I wonder if yours has had an aftermarket cap fitted at some time - such as the one from Z1300 de. Could explain the fact that the key won't do anything. Maybe you will have to drill the lock and buy a new cap.

It is how far the key goes into the lock that counts and those are lockwise I would say are identical but the longer key is well worn. If one opens and the other does not then it is possible that the cap has been changed and by coincidence the worn key works the lock.

I have used a piece of coat hanger as a drift and punched out the pin on other bikes. From the inside you can take it apart.
