got 2 emails yesterday within 3 hours of posting. Bottom line- the posted sizes are the true sizes so not enough interference for our heads. continuing to shop.

9 seats out now without incident, 3 to go. What a pain in the ass with porosity due to contaminated inserts. 3 passes to burn off the shit and then the inserts will form a bead and suck inwards. Must have reground the tungsten electrode 6 times per seat.

This is a really interesting topic. I admire your ingenuity, Kawboy, in your method of "shrinking" those valve seats to get them out. Have you contemplated refitting the new ones? Will you need liquid nitrogen to shrink them?
A couple of interesting websites which you may already have seen:

My plan was to warm the head up to 300 F and chill the seats with CO2 rather than nitrogen. Not sure where I would get my hands on a small quantity of N2. Still have to source the seats. They counter bores are not a usual cutter size. (Go figure) I need to finish pulling the last 3 intake seats and then do some more measuring of the counter bores.

We used to use CO2 fire extinguishers for cooling valve seats and beer :)

Please let us know exactly where and how much the new seats were when you finally get them Kawboy. You're on a good start to have a brand new cylinder head!
