Hi
your pic of the AW82 coils shows what looks like the back of the ballast resistor just behind the coil.
this has to be removed from the system.
just in case you didnt realise, theres a few good threads on here with good explanations

Well I'll be damned. Thanks for the sharp eye! Looks like I'll be redoing some of the wiring and mounting soon.

Ah, well. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things!

Looking good. I can see all the photos just fine. I had an issue posting photos a few weeks back.

Thanks for the tips, folks -- I re-removed the OEM ballast resistor today. I already had new wiring run from the igniter to each coil, so it was easy enough to make a quickie loom for the ground wires. Anderson PowerPole connectors to the rescue!

I've not done a lot over the past couple weeks; last weekend was crazy busy for me. I think I have that carb part coming to me (THANKS!) so that will be a load off my mind.

As I'll be gone for the next couple weekends I don't anticipate much progress being made. However, I did get about half of my exhaust headers cleaned up. The headers as they came off the bike were rusty as hell and just generally cruddy. I've been working on polishing them, which has involved lots of #3-#0000 steel wool, Brasso, rags, and metal polish.

Side-by-side, though, the difference is apparent.
