Since it's now cut and welded, did you do anything to balance it? DOM tube obviously won't have an internal seam that would throw off balance, but I'd worry about the weld deposition being uneven.

I used SOLID dom stock same diameter as the drive shaft
I've made 9 drive shafts of multiple makes of motorcycles. With my technique the shaft doesn't need balancing. I've never had a problem or issue with any drive shaft I've made for anyone.

I'm unfamiliar with solid DOM stock, as I've always understood DOM to be "drawn over mandrel" -- a tube that would normally be joined through ERW is then, well, drawn over a mandrel to remove the interior seam (better for bending, etc). Huh.

What kind of alloy are you using, and which process do you use to join the two?

Sorry for the typo, the dom tubing was used on a 650 Yamaha drive shaft. Solid stick was used on kz1300 because of the weight of the bike.
