Hi Guys, Just signed up to the Forum having picked up a tired 79 Z1300 from Ebay and am looking forward to starting a restoration on the bike shortly.

Welcome to the Forum.
Probably a real good place for you to start is the KZ1300 FAQ tab at the top of the page. It's full of great info and will give you an insight to just what kinds of things the members have dealt with over the years and some ideas of how they overcame the issues.
