Helmet Lock ??

Ok I got this on e-bay, from a '79 model, I have a '79 and would like to mount it, so anyone know exactly where it goes before I pull the duck tail off, cause I think it mounts under there but not sure, checked parts manual and it's the correct part, suppose to be for the '79 and a couple of models after that, still have to get the lock "modified" to suit my key, thanks in advance, cheers Pete

I always wondered if/where the helmet lock on the 1300 was. I'll do some poking around in my (mostly tore apart) bike when I get home, see if any empty holes jump out at me.

Are we sure the helmet lock is on all models ?

I do have some material from which I guess it's been implemented since the A3, but I am not sure. That one looks like Craig's

Perusing an online parts fiche, it looks like while the locks are identical left and right, the brackets are not. I'm curious to see if they are supposed to bolt up where I think they do. My 1980 KZ1300 came with the Vetter bags, and I remember two small angle brackets bolting up near where it would make sense for the helmet lock assembly to attach as well. As of right now, I don't think those bolts are being used for anything on mine.

Okay, I lied. The brackets I'm thinking of are WAAAY too far back. So I still have to check mine.

Personally? I'd run that one hole on the upper shock mount and see where the other hole ends up.
