Front Master Cylinder Rebuild on Rear? was created by Lucien-Harpress
Because front master cylinder rebuild kits for these bikes are everywhere, but a rebuild kit for the rear is non-existant (not counting an $80 kit in the UK), has anyone checked to see if the rubber portions (the cups) of a front master cylinder rebuild will fit the plunger of the rear master? They seem close (even though transferring them over might be a pain without messing them up), but I'm wondering if anyone has actually done it before.

Both the Bores are 5/8, and the seals are basically the same. I have used the seals from a front MC on the Rear and it works/Seals. Only concern is the condition of the piston and bore, and you need to be super careful when you take the seals off then reinstall them.

Same bore, same rubber. I've heard from people who have done it with success. But spending the money and investing in the bike, expecting to keep it let's say for 10 years to come, doing the master cylinder is pretty much a one time deal. I'd spend the extra 20 and have everything there new. That's my approach when I comes to mechanical components when replacements are available and I can afford them.

The dust boot for rear is different and was not available, but I think it is now from zed parts.
