Base gasket O-rings
3 years 9 months ago
I just put the 4 base gasket O-rings on before putting the cylinder block on, but wasn't happy with the O-ring fit. They don't sit fully in the recess, I'm guessing this isn't correct? They seem to be slightly bigger in diameter by a very small amount. Maybe I'm worrying too much and they get pushed in to place by the block but It seems a bit off to me. Any thoughts?

Definitely not fit to install. The O-rings should seat nicely in the recess and sit about 15% of thickness of the o-ring above the half joint. That's standard o-ring fitment practices .Proper o-ring sealing is achieved by compressing the o-ring 15%

Ah ok thanks. I'm now concerned over the quality of the rest of the gasket set  .Maybe I'll try an source some 0-rings locally.

Thanks for that. I'll keep pushing on with it. I'm looking forward to riding the hell out of it come summer time:) . It's the only bike I have that my wife is happy to join me on.
