They can sometimes be re-used if you're careful in removing/disconnecting them. Particularly if there's some "squish" under them - as there would on a rubber boot.

Yes, they are one time use. That raised portion get's crimped.

I've always heard these crimp clamps refered to as "Oetiker Clamps". I assume that was the original manufacturer's brand name. We use the non-adjustable version of these clamps for high pressure oil lines on the race car. Rubber hoses with barbed AN fittings and these clamps are a lot lighter (and quicker to make) than the stainless steel sheathed hoses.

You can buy the crimpers ("Installation Tool") at Pegasus . Or anyone in the Dallas area can borrow mine! Nothing really special about the tool, you can easily grind a pair of dykes ("Side Cutting Pliers" for those that need to be PC) to do the same job.

The suggested clamp worked well. Here is a pic of the boot on the engine with the clamp crimped in place.
