I can not find an level switch on my 1980
A2. I believe it should be on the rear of the oil pan. And there is nothing there on mine.

Sorry for the confusion. this may help.
According to Partzilla, Engine numbers above 10638 had a oil level sensor. Engine numbers below 10638 did not have the oil level sensor.
see these 2 links
www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...l-filter-e-no-010637
www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/motor...l-filter-e-no-016038
Note that there is a typo in Partzilla's reference to the serial numbers (I believe the 016038 should be 010638 but it could be that the reference to serial # 010637 should be 016037). Also note this reference to the change up shows up in the 1979, 1980 and the 1981. it does not show up in the 1982 or higher. So '82s and up have the oil level sensor for sure.
You are correct, the connector is on the back of the oil pan and it's a yellow pigtail.

That makes more sense for the KZ's - as my 79 did not have a level sensor and I just about ran it dry once  . I suspect I wasn't the only one as the early 13's were known as oil burners. I presume that Kawasaki, in response, added a oil level sensor and eventually increased the size of the sump.
Still confused about my ZN though, I can't locate an Oil pressure switch on the wiring diagram (attached).
