Yes, I agree with using the original tensioner, but with modification:

I removed the manual cam chain tensioner because it was stiff to turn so I could never be sure the tension was set correctly. I re-fitted the original with the modification that I read about on this forum. The bolt stops the tensioner backing off if the non-return mechanism fails and the original spring keeps it at the correct tension.
