No electrical system

10 years 7 months ago
#4366
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Riding along at 40 mph when all of a sudden all the power goes off on the bike. Only thing working is the rear parking light. NOTHING ELSE. Two days before, I rode about 100 miles with no trouble. Just installed a brand new battery, new pickup coils and tried my spare ignitor, all fuses are fine, still nothing. Stock A2, no mods. Any ideas, thanks, Reid.

Reid, I had a similar problem on my bike. I found the problem under the Fuse box. Unscrew the 2 x 10mm bolts that hold the fuse box in place, turn the fuse box upside down and check the integrity of the soldered joints on the main 30 amp fuse connectors where the wires join the terminals. I found a dry joint that was causing my problem. Maybe you have the same problem as I had. Hope you get sorted.

Cheers Craig

Also check/test your main switch for continuity in the left side cover.

Hi
many years ago I had a similar problem that occurred at high speed on a motorway[scary as I had to drift across two lanes] after about 5 mins power came back and all was normal, spoke to a mechanic friend and he said he had heard similar stories and it was related to the fuel solenoid valve, ditched the valve and it never occurred again
