I put a new igniter unit from Camaro/b]
This is something I find very interesting, and I'm sure others would like to know some further details, as well.
A few pictures and a brief explanation would be appreciated.
just unplug and plug in the new one
Same connector ?
Awesome !

I've seen them online, the Carmo igniter, and they were tempting - except the price! It's CAD $450 for Canadians... That's the no VAT option without shipping and customs fees.
KAWASAKI Z1300 KZ1300 IC IGNITER 21119-1005
It's all explained on the page.
They have a different one for early and older models, like my A4. And for other bikes and brands.
But considering the availability at hand, when needed, it's fantastic. A peace of mind. If I had some money laying around I'd definitely get one to test. Seems like it offers better function by providing stability and flexibility in different conditions, like start up, running in hot weather etc.
PS. Yes, it's a Carmo not Camaro scotch! :silly:

Yes, that's the one. I'm Scottish and was also put off by the price! Hence messing around with new coils and HT leads and plugs and checking the wiring harness for almost a year before I eventually opened my wallet. The fact that it was a direct replacement without having to do any re-wiring was what sold this one to me compared to some other igniters that may have been cheaper.

Hey Russel
the back of your bike seems a bit odd - is it by intention or did you get it this way ?

When I bought it in South Africa, it had been butchered a bit (see photo of green bike) and I think the rear frame rails have been bent upwards slightly to make it look a bit more "modern". I got it renovated before I shipped it, but to be honest couldn't tell for sure if the seat/tail was standard or not until I got it over here. It's subtle enough and I actually quite like it so I'm not going to bend it back. The exhausts are also non-standard.
