Lifting and Jacking with motorCycle jack
2 months 1 week ago - 2 months 1 week ago
I know the center stand will get the front and rear tires off the ground with a little ingenuity.
I decided this year to give the tires a rest, and bought motorcycle jacks for each of my 3 motorcycles.
i can not find info in the manual and looking under the bike and looking at the jack, Ummmmmmm?
A small bit of frame tubes are there and there is some piece going across that is a little lower too.
Can I get something in combination with the jack? Or maybe lift it just right with no adapter?
Neither tire will be taken off, just here in NY it is winter weather I am facing.

On page 121 of the factory repair manual, the section dealing with removal of the front wheel shows a jacking point on the underside of the engine.

How will the traditional motorcycle lift jack be used to zero in on this little round reinforced point? My jack has the two 1 foot wide slats and a handle to pump the unit up.

I wouldn't be lifting the motorcycle off the ground using the engine casing as a point of lift. The reference in the manual for removing the front wheel notes raising the front of the bike by placing a jack under the engine but the amount of pressure on the engine when doing this is minimal. Lifting the entire bike off the ground and using the engine casing as a support point would be a terrible idea.
I would consider fabbing up a jig to sit on your bike lift that lifted the bike using the 2 lower frame tubes that the center stand is attached to. That way you're lifting the bike from the same frame points that the center stand was designed for.

I made mine and it works beautifully. Easy to use and solid. My Nickel Plated Balls
stay on the forks !
It started it's life originally as a cheap (light-duty) hand cart. Cut-out what I needed and welded it up as you see it.

ThankYou for the clarity and a suggestion to use a gig fir the frame tubes.
i really thought more owners would have made an adapter and showed them here.
