KZ 1300 v z1300

Please forgive my dumbness, but what is the difference between my z1300 and a kz1300. Its doing my head in , Thanks

Not a lot really: the bikes are basically the same, Kawasaki used the KZ designation to identify bikes that were either manufactured in the US (as with the KZ900 at the Lincoln Nebraska plant ) or intended for sale within the US market. The bikes would have to meet any US specific technical specs, such as emission control, daylight running lights, side reflectors etc. etc
But bottom line is they are one and the same.

NZ market the switch block(R) was different as you turn the lights on, Z
KZ the lights are automatically turned on with ignition
Nz market does not have all the emission crap including the valve assembly on tappet cover,
thats the only differeance i picked up
oh other than the most obviouse ours arent left hand drive !

From ten feet away , with both bikes side by side , it would be hard to tell. But, fuel tank size and maybe the speedometer as well.

yours appears to be the bigger
the tank in NZ was 27 ltrs ( bigger than the US tank KZ)
should have remembered that! ive been chasing one myself.
and actually side on their is quite a noticeable difference in the 2 tanks
yeah seems speedo came at 140kph or 160kph/ was told, dont know what the NZ read at
mines 140 have been trying to find NZ model mine obviously in MPH as its KZ
anyone have a good 27ltr tank up for sale ?? any one

Dion, their is a Gumtree add for a z1300 in Canberra, for a frame with tank not sure about the condition or size tho ...
