I had a similar problem when I was rebuilding my z1000. I drilled and threaded a hole where the post was and repaired it with a piece of brass rod.

I've had some stubborn pins with carbs I've bought and rebuilt. The fear of breaking a pin is a definite concern.. If the pins don't slide out easily I soak them overnight with something like WD. If they don't come out with a push, then I'll heat the post. I have a small butane torch that has a pin-point flame. Some cig-lighters have this feature and would work just as well. A bit of heat along with the pre-soaking has always worked !
