To be honest i dont know, however the models with the pick ups behind the barrels have a mechanical advance system behind the pick up coils. In saying that you never know how it will run without any advance.
Have you looked at a yoyager cdi unit, there should be plenty on e bay at a cheap price

I wonder if anyone would be able to answer this but maybe the cdi unit from a z1000 of that era may have the same characteristics and in saying that might be able to work on the 1300. If i had the part number i could do a cross reference check.

The early z1300 a1 a2 rely on an advance bob weight set up on the shaft behind the block a3 was first to have advance in the cdi unit
Carmo are going to repair mine then i will put a scope on mine to send them wave form data with bike running so they can finish the one they have built so we a4a5 riders can get new much improved units
