Is it me or my computer

Hey guys,

Over the last couple of days I have been trying to upload photos and a video of my bike throughout it's restoration so you all can see ow I am progressing but to no avail. I am not the most computer savvy person.

I go to attachments / add file / select the photo I want / select insert.

When I preview the content it shows my text and the attachment number / file but when I submit it nothing happens. The computer sits there and thinks about it, then seems to time out without uploading anything.

I am sure I must be doing something wrong but not sure what, any help greatfully received.

Hi. Are you trying to download to much info. Under the impression that only allowed a 2mb download on site. Have a lot of problems on other sites re photo's as a lower mb rating and have to downsize first. May be wrong. But rest assured some one will come along and sort.

All my photos are taken with an 18M Canon T2i. One 5184 X 3456 picture will gag almost any system. I quickly discovered that down sizing them to 900 X 600 gives good image quality and allows many pictures to be downloaded without issue.

That is correct, when looking at the preview it will only show the file number, so i'd say the photos are a tad too large, reduce the size of the photo by either cropping or reducing the picture, and then save and then check it's size, make sure it's within the forums guidelines then try again, most internet connections have a slower upload speed than download so it takes a little while longer, also sometimes some anti-virus or firewall programs on the computer stop uploads, also make sure your pictures are in a JPG format, everything seems to accept that, cheers

Hi StockToy,

If you select "Add File" a thumbnail will be attached to your post. Choose this option if folks who might be on dial up would have to wait too long for the post to open. After they read your post, they can choose to view the actual picture if they choose.

If you want the picture to be included in the body of your post choose "Insert" after adding your picture.

The picture is of one of the Sand Creek pinnacles we hiked up to on the East flank of Crater Lake (Mt. Mazama) last Saturday.

Hope this helps.
