ZOSO,
Good idea mate............if it aint broke dont fix it........just ride it !!
We must get round to meeting up sometime over the summer.
Me & my mate (also has a Z1300) often head up to Oban & West Coast for a few long weekends......maybe hook up on the way for a coffee, or you are welcome to join us (must drink like a fish though !)
KEL,
As ever, ZOSO is 100% spot on with advice on Colortune Plug.
No 1300 owner should be without a Colortune Plug !!

The carbs are probably needing a good soak in diesel but as I've now got the thing going relatively smoothly I'm a bit reluctant to rip the carbs out and start messing around - especially as the weather is getting a bit better - I'd rather be on the bike than looking at it in the garage..... a job for next winter.
Kel - from recent experience I would say the ONLY way to make sure the mixture screws are set properly is to use a Colourtune plug and ignore everything else.
cheers
I just thought that resetting them to the factory spec would give me a good restart point as I have refitted all of the OEM airbox bits and filter.
The Factory Manual says screw in to stop then back out 1 and 3/4 turns, or is that 3 1/2 turns??.
Hey, that how they did it at the factory correct??

KEL,
The K Workshop Manual is WRONG on this adjustment.
You wont even get the bike to start on 1-1/4 turns (unless you are ZOSO....LOL!).
Best start at 3-1/2 turns out & go from there.
You will find if you use a Colortune Plug that all 6 mixture screws will have different positions.......not all will be the same amount of turns out.

Hi Pete
I'd be delighted to meet you for a coffee/beer/fag over the summer. I'm in Prestwick (west coast) so if you're anywhere near let me know.
cheers
