Took a day off work today to make my new air filter system. I got a quote for CNC machining to my design but they wanted £150 per item which was too rich for me.
So, I made a jig and two templates:
Spent the best part of the day machining the aluminium with wood cutting bits in a router. I did try a 1/2 end mill but it wasn't working
And ended up with these:
The holes for the air filter pod tubes were a really tight fit. I had to press them in with a vice. So not bothered to get them TIG welded yet. Had to resort to a bit of baby oil to get the pods on - 50mm my arse!
I still need to make the bottom bracket but you can still use the original side covers. Again, with a little baby oil the three carb rubber gaskets slip over nicely:

What a great way to tackle this modification. As they say "Necessity is the Mother of Invention".
Thanks for sharing.

I've made the designs available on Thingiverse.
I think these were the final ones? I had to make some last minute changes when I realised I had spaced the pods too far apart to allow the original air box side covers to be fitted. Please double check before machining any metal!
All files can be found here in STL format:
www.thingiverse.com/thing:920762
I can probably export other formats if needed. Just ask

That is a great looking mod. Thanks for posting the info about it and the files for others!
