MORGAN COLOR TUNE

Hello All:

Some have mentioned they have experience with the ColorTune product.

Last month I ordered one and have initially used it on each cylinder. The bike is running pretty well but I have a question regarding the color of the flame when rolling on the throttle.

As I roll in fuel, the flame goes from Bunsen Blue to orange/ yellow and quickly turns back to blue. Assuming these old CV carbs are not efficient as fuel injection, I wonder if this is excess air. This is consistent on each cylinder.

When reviewing the directions on the ColorTune, they reference this color change to float setting.

My wet float level service limit is around 7mm.

Bike is an A-4 model.

Thanks in advance.

Todd,

That is perfectly good & normal.

You get a bit more fuel than you need initially when rolling on the throttle (its lift on diaphrams that does it) which is why you see yellow (rich) then back to bunsen blue.

YELLOW / ORANGE RICH

Pretty sure they recommend that you don't rev the bike with that plug in, it's designed just to set up the idle mixture, hate to see you rev the bike looking straight over the plug and have the "glass" shatter and you end up with one less eye, may not happen but they ain't the strongest looking plug, just a thought, cheers Pete.

Very good, thanks all.

Certainly eye protection would be a good idea when using this plug.

My engine hasn't run so good since using this tool-and their carb balancer as well.
And doesn't the engine run a lot of the time on the idle circuit anyway ?
Get the idle mixture right, then vacuum -should run sweet.

Yeh love this thing, so easy to use, balance is set good and then do the mixture to the colour wanted, she runs sweet, heck just touch the starter button and it's idling away nicely, good tool, no it's a great tool
