wrgoo56,

Thanks. I guess since riding season here is about over, after soaking them for a week or so, I'll likly pull them all apart and clean up, get functioning, etc...

Besides obviously worn parts (and possibly rebuild kits...), is there anything else I should do while I have them off?

Anyone here ever consider polishing the carb slides? I've seen this done with other bikes in other forums with promising results, but I've yet to see anyone try it on these round throttle tubes.

Here's a tuturial for carb slides from a different forum. Any additional info would be excellent :).

I did this on an XS650 I had briefly which had a problem with sticking slides. I used Autosol and good old elbow grease. Worked fine.

Cool! I tried polishing the slides but it seemed really difficult smoothing out that brass. Wound up using 2500 grit paper and mine stopped sticking. One of the slides was getting stuck in the open position briefly :).
