Hello all after many missed opportunities I finally got my hands on a kaw 1300. 1985 voyager to be precise with ~30000 miles sitting since the 90s one owner bought from the showroom floor with zero miles in 1988. As of now its obviously not running and not sure what it needs beyond a tank cleaning/replacement and a fuel pump along with the obvious hoses, plugs ,ect. Will probably be a slow process so don't expect a quick build out of this one.

Hi Milletrecento,

I have one of those. The folks around here have seen her but I'll link a pic from my gallery to show her again.

Bill, not to hijack this thread, but have you told us the story behind that ZN1300? If so, I would like to read it! Where's the radiator? I wanna know more, and see more pix.

Also, Milletrecento, around here we LOVE to see pix. Don't forget the old saying about a thousand words and all! I am a fellow ZN1300 owner, too, on my second one! If yours is pretty much stock, like mine, then we are like orphans here since most of them are stripped down for the street. Here is a pic of how mine looked the day I got it home last August.

I didn't think of grabbing any pictures until I already had it in the garage and its a bit crowded in there but eventually I'll certainly post some. First thing to be taken care of was the tank so i cleaned it and it seems essentially rust free from what i can tell. Got her running yesterday with a E2000 airtex fuel pump and T16L Autocraft AGM battery from advance. First start took a minute and I didn't notice the throttle was stuck completely open so it was a loud start followed by immediate shut down. After that was figured out it ran although smokey and not a fan of idling. I'll try to spend some more time on it today so I can refigure the fuel routing and make a bracket for the filter.
Thinking of running some sea foam through it but not sure yet.

From a few days ago the garage is a big mess at the moment. I got it complete and still have everything just easily to mess with fuel routing and the battery like this. This bike certainly needs to go on a diet I don't really think I could ride it like this. Currently thinking of doing like many others before me and stripping it down. Nothing crazy just remove some of the mass and see how I like it. You may see all the luggage and fairing bits up for sale one day.

Yes, do run a slightly higher concentration than recommended of SeaFoam. Sounds like your injectors are partially clogged making it not want to idle well but run at higher throttle. it seems these injectors really like SeaFoam. It cleans them well. I have two complete spare sets and one set was competely plugged up on four injectors. I did a test setup to be able to fire and feed the injectors with auxiliary pump, regulator and catch basin. I did a double concentration of SeaFoam and kep0t firing them under pressure until they flowed freely. Then I did a full-strength SeaFoam run to fill them up and let them set for a week. It's amazing how much tiny crud comes out of them into the catch basin. But, they really do flow nicely now. Good spray pattern, too! And, if you do try this, don't forget to include the pressure regulator in the cleaning process. It also has a very fine needle/orifice to be cleaned.
