Greetings, all. New guy here from Southern California. I have an original (except for the paint) 1980 KZ 1300 with about 22,000 miles. It's my favorite weekend rider and shares those duties with 7 other bikes, also all original:

1979 Honda CBX-restored
1966 Honda 305 Scrambler--restored 32 years ago, then displayed inside owner's house
1975 Suzuki RE-5 rotary
1974 Kawasaki H1 triple--restored, but not to my standards
1970 Yamaha RT-1 360 Enduro
1968 Honda Trail 90
1986 Yamaha RZ-350 (Canadian model).
I plan to buy at least 3 more bikes for my collection

I have been buying restoration parts and decals, etc for the bikes. When I retire in 2 to 4 years, I will spend lots of time in the garage when I restore the bikes (other than the CBX) --it will keep me out of the wife's hair, and she out of mine.

I look forward to browsing this forum and discovering posts by knowledgeable wizards that are always found on these forums.

Brian

Hi Brian, welcome and greetings from a cold and wet UK.
I was lucky enough to escape the "Rat Race" about 5 years ago, and restoring Jap Classics bikes became my passion: unexpected benefit is that it keeps me in the garage for extended periods and out of reach of "She Who Must Be Obeyed" :cheer:

Currently spending a few hours in the garage giving my big Zed a winter tidy up: roll on Spring.

Cheers Tim

Hey Brian,
From one newbie to another, you're going to love the site. Great bunch of guys here with lots of good experience. Welcome aboard.
I had a couple of your rides. 2 CBX's in Candy Glory Red. and a KH500 plus a H2 750. Looking forward to getting my 1980 KZ 1300 restoration up and running.

Cheers,
John

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I may post from time to time, but I am more of a reader.

I already found a "wizard" that I was looking for- "Scotch". He described a carburetor fix for my engine hesitation.

Almost done buying parts- picked up a rear fender and fork trim rings on eBay. Somewhat pricey, but at least I have them.

I will likely restore my Yamaha Enduro or H1 first to perfect my methods before the KZ. Probably the hardest part about the KZ will be removing the engine.

Kawboy- my CBX is also candy glory red. The only real cosmetic flaw is a small boot rub on one muffler. I took it to a local car show and got many compliments from spectators and one judge. I lost to 2 fairly stock Harleys belonging to club members. I DID win one award--Best Custom Paint. (!!) The bike is painted original red. Lesson learned about car shows.
