Hello,
I'm currently rebuilding the Top End on my 1981 Z1300. Now I came to the point where I have to put in a new Cam Chain. I searched for a 82RH2015-158 or a SCA 0412.... and got me a Borgwarner (Morse) 82RH2015-158 with a Chain Lock. When I compared this one with the old one I found to my surprise that the new one has 2.5mm Pins and the old one has 3.0 mm Pins! Is there anything I misunderstood? Do I have to use a different spec Cam Chain or is the new one ok?
Thanks for your advise
Karl

Hello Karl:

Kawasaki indicates the factory chain is still available for $144.00 in the U.S.

The factory chain is fairly robust, is it an issue of cost?

Part O.E. number is 92057-1018. Unless there is a service bulletin or superseded part number?

When it comes to cam chains, I usually stay with O.E. Kawasaki or Tsubaki.

Regards.

Todd.

Hi,
unfortunately the Kawasaki OE Part isn't available anymore in Germany. I'm in the US in 3 Weeks an will order it for Pickup. The one I have with the 2.5mm Pins is a BorgWarner/Morse Chain, but the D.I.D are also not stronger! To me it seems as if the original Part is way heavier and more solid. Since the Timing System is the weak point in our Bike I don't want to weaken it.
Thanks for the OE Nr.
