Hi guys,
In my understand the band, battery (92072-1021) has two functions:
- it prevents the battery against theft since it blocks its way to the side
- it fixes the battery in place so it does not jump around and gets damaged

Since I am using a different Battery (Hawker Odyssey PC 680) which is slightly smaller in total but a little bit higher than the original I have made myself some foam-blocks to prevent it from sliding around in its case in both lateral directions. How would you rate the fixing-function  the band, battery. To me it is clear the battery must not move/ jump up and down, but I can easily fix it with some foam under the seat.

Or am I missing another function of that band ?

All the best,
Holger

The battery hold-down bracket has one function:  To hold the battery down !     Without it, it could be possible for the battery to bounce UP and have the Positive Post contact the seat-pan.   "Great Smouldering Balls of Fire !"

An Anti Theft Device?  Not really.    A key would still be needed to open the seat to gain access to the Positive post so that cable could be removed.

The hold-down plate also provides a bracket attachment point for the Main Switch cover.
