Scotch.
i did exactly that without the heat.
i applied pressure to the bottom of the jet and slowly and gently unscrewed it.
as you said there was a small Raymond on the top where the screwdriver sits, this was removed with a small stone.
today i have had the bodies soaking in a weak acid to try and remove the oxidized ali.
that worked quite well but left the ali nearly black, a bit of solvol on the buffing wheel soon removed that

well amazingly the primary chain is within the service limit according to the book..
i have 16 mm of slack and the limit is 22 i wonder how far the cam timing is out if it ever gets to max
it was a buggah holding the phone tape and chain all at the same time, i would say its more like 18mm slack
as i was pulling the chain to one side

apparently the engine started bogging around 4000 rpm.
i was told that they tried everything, changed all the sensors including TPS no joy. even bought a new DFI ECU.
someone told them to do a compression test which turned out a bit low so the engine was bored to get the compression back up.
just after that the carbs were tried without success.
since the bore and the rebuild the motor has done 2000 miles.
the guy parked it in the corner in disgust and went and bought a GSX1400 and was very happy. good move to be honest.
so when i get it back together i will have a bit of fault finding to do.

Ha! Mine was doing that, turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator valve, replaced it with an aftermarket adjustable one.
