it appears that i have an oil pipe running into the back of the camchain tensioner,
does this solve the problem of the tensioner letting the chain go slack ?
if not would it be a issue to replace it with an APE manual tensioner and just block of the oil pipe.
i could bore a hole through the new bolt and replace the oil pipe if needed.
any ideas..? Ian

got the water pump and thermostat housings off, both a useless, the expanding bypass pipe has cracked both parts

attacked the swing arm to remove it from the frame.
i love what it says in the book to remove the pins. insert a 5 mm bolt in the center and pull. :woohoo: :woohoo: yeh right

the replacements will have an 8mm thread so that a slide hammer can be inserted.

A shame to see that this bike has suffered so much from neglect. But I'm sure you will make a gem out of it - and what a sense of achievement you will have!
I'm curious about that cam chain tensioner. I remember reading that the injec ted models had that oil feed to the tensioner, but what does it do?

I have an '84 ZG & mine doesn't have that oil pipe to the CCT. I seem to remember that the later fuel-injected bikes (Voyager included) had that system, where the CCT is tensioned according to oil pressure.
