Hi,
Can anyone clarify which are the correct NGK iridium plugs for an A1?
On ebay and other places I've seen the code Ref number BPR6EIX and BR8EVX.
I'm soon to complete my rebore project and wanted to start the engine with fresh plugs and thought the iridium ones seem good. But im a bit concerned about putting in the wrong grade and running the engine too hot for example.
Are these plugs worth the extra money or should I just get standard ones?

I used BR8EIX in mine, no problems so far.

Hi Pete,
I don't know the difference between the two plugs you listed but I do know that the iridium plugs were developed for applications where the plugs are difficult to access. I've used iridium plugs but given that our plugs are not particularly difficult to change and they give no better performance, I decided they weren't worth the extra cost.

I was having issues with my A1 18 months ago, so also fitted a set of BR8EIX: they seemed to help at start up and have been trouble free.
However, Ive recently spoken to 2 engine tuners (due to my Zed doing its best to morph into a 600lb garage ornament) and both have said that with old bikes like my Z13 (with old electrics & ignition systems etc.) I was wasting my cash and would get the same results with standard NGK's.

I got Iridium plugs for mine, they have been in over a year now, must pull them out and check them one day, there is one has a solid top and the other has the screw on top, you need the screw on cap ones so you can clip your plug leads on, think it was the BPR6 ones, cheers
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF

BPR6 is the correct plug rating, many listings are for BPR8, which is incorrect. Iridium plugs will last longer, but that's the only benefit.
I went to BPR5, which is one grade hotter, the reasoning being that they would be less likely to foul as they will burn off any deposits more readily. Runs great :) Probably best to stick to BPR6 if you run your 1300 hard all the time though.
