Bought the old girl out of storage for the winter months (Z1300 A3)plugs out and blow the oil out from the cylinders. Plugs back in and fresh fuel. Fires up on the button, only for 5 min and lose spark. Checked every thing on FAQ section and done it all.
following day. Fired up first time and runs sweet. For the rest of the day aloud to cool and fired up 12 times and no problems. On the button every time.
Day 3. fired up first time, but only for 5 min. Then cuts out re no spark.
Getting well peed off with it all. Any members had the same problem?

Not sure what your using for coils/ballast Resistor but the primary power for either is my immediate thought. A loose single connection which interrupts all the spark-source seems reasonable and should be relatively easy to meter test. frustrating, I know !

If you are running a battery maintenance system, and your battery is weak, it may have enough fresh charge to start and run for a bit, but the charger won't have enough output to keep up with the needs of the ignition system and it will eventually (5 minutes) lose enough power to not be able to generate enough spark. I'm having the exact problem right now because my bike isn't charging at all. My charger brings the battery up enough to start and run for a few minutes, but then the voltage drops enough to not be able to support the ignition needs. If I jump it with a larger battery it will run a long time if I leave the jumpers connected. But, I can watch the battery slowly drop in voltage since there is no charger output. Then it just stops when the voltage drops below about 9.8volts. No spark.
Make sure you're charging above 14 volts and watch the voltage as the engine runs to see if it drops.

Get a good clean battery earth cable and fix it to the engine somewhere at a good clean point.
Also fix the other end to a good clean point on the frame, just to ensure the engine and frame are well connected.
If not this can have a serious effect on your electrical and ignition system.

After time, you will find corrosion at engine mounting points can severly affect the engine / frame connection and it can become worse as the engine gets hot.

I first saw this issue back in the 1980's with Citroen cars which had a similar issue. The symptoms were you would get sparks coming off the throttle cable near the carb !!!!!.............as the cable was becoming the earth connection between the engine and the body of the car !!!!

Worth a try before digging deeper and spending more time and money?.
