Hi i have seen this question asked before but could not find it can the the A3 be changed to A1/2 ignition and what parts are required . The reason i ask as Paul from C5 ignition in the US is willing to build a ignition kit for the A1/2 and i would love to have a modern state of the art ignition on my bike but he actually requires the parts off a A1 to be able to do this it would be great addition to the market for everyone who is in the market for a new ignition i know there is one available but a choice would be nice check him out at C5 ignition maybe even get in touch with him cheers

It's not something I have ever seen done. The A1 and A2/B2 had small magnetic coil pickups behind the block which also used a mechanical advance and retard system.

I think later models then went on to use hall effect sensors on one end of the crank which used electronic advance and retard.

It may well be possible to build something which could cater for both types of pickup but it would have to know whether it needed to advance/retard of not.

The Dyna 200 ignition system for the A1 and A2 did away with the mechanical advance/retard unit and swapped it for a fixed magnet rotor - but they never catered for the A3 or later models.

First problem is the A1/A2 pickups fit to the block, the A3 block does not have the aperture to fit the pickup housing into
