Hi guys,

just wanted to say hello, my name is Holger, I live in Switzerland very close to the border to Germany and own my Z1300 bult in 1979 since 1994.

Last year I had a small accident so I decided to rebuild my bike, back to the roots to be original as possible, see yourself:

If you wander how my pics went to a japanese homepage: thats another story, lets stick to my hello for the moment.

best regards,

Holger

A belated "Welcome Aboard!" Holger.

Looks as if your 1300 just came out of the crate. I'm ready for the story whenever you are.

Bill, here we go:

Few years ago I used to get into contact with a guy from Japan who owned a webiste end we even exchanged patches , however I lost contact with him.

Recently we got into contact again (don’t remember why) and as on his website there is a photo of the KZ1300 No. 1 (frame and engine) (www.geocities.jp/kz1300_japan/kz1300-world.html ) we discussed around this one and raised the question if I knew the whereabouts of number 2 – 5 as he obviously owns number 6. At that date I had no clue.

Few month later I noticed an item on Ebay Germany where a guy sold No. 3. The bike had been imported into the US more than 30 years ago, had been shipped to Germany where it stayed in a motorcycle shop for around 20 years as decoaration.

I advised this to my Japanese friend, inquired about the price, gave some advice on export regulations and after finding out both were able to conversate in English established direct contact between both. They had made the deal, the bike went to an export company in Germany and finally into a container, together with other Japanese-vintage bikes. Presently he is restoring the bike (in a very good way as I think) and keeps a blog about it (www.geocities.jp/kz1300_japan/prototype-restoration2.html ).

He is quite happy about making the bike his own and in return for the above favour (which was fun for me, too) he put my bike on his website.

I do not know if you guys in the US consider the low numbered bikes (engine plus frame) any special ?

regards,

Holger
