Hi my second z1300 turned up today all looks ok starts runs fine a bit rattly cold but quiet when warms up .Didn't like starting hot so robbed starter motor from the Scotland bike all starting good now.Hope to get out on the weekend but terrible weather tail end of two cyclones from over the ditch Pete can you stop sending them over lol hope you didn't get any flooding cheers Graham, sorry Ive put it in the wrong category ill get it right one day

Where did you pick this up from Graham? Looking really clean. Someone took care of it. Hope the internals are as good as the externals ;)

Brought here in new Zealand just happened to be looking on trade me at the right time its a new Zealand new model not a import its the model i wanted with the big sump hoping Kawasaki had sorted all the problems with them by that model are they a good model any bad faults? Had it trucked down from Auckland.Suspect rattly timing chain cold i will pull the rocker cover and have as look at the plastic idler .Thanks Graham

Depending on the mileage Graham, it could also be either the primary or secondary chains especially if the idle is a little rough. The crankshaft would be bucking and if the chains are really loose, you could possibly hear the chains tapping off of the castings of the lower half of the crankcase. Fire the old girl up and have a listen to the botom side of the motor. I have seen a pic on this site of a primary chain chewing into the web of the lower crankcase.
