3.5 turns out is only a starting point. You need to get a 14mm Gunsons colourtune plug and adjust the pilot mixture screws. Turn out the pilot screw until the flame burns yellow then turn it back in until the flame burns solid blue.

Can you explain this again please:

"I pulled the plugs and saw that the electrode was a almost brown color and the ring around the plug was damp with fuel. I always though the element was the pilot end and the outside ring of the plug was the mains."

Back to basics, make sure you DO NOT use R plugs. The resistor plugs weaken the spark, NGKs have been causing issues witk some members. I use Densos and am happy.

If you're fouling on only several cylinders on the top-end I'd suspect the mixing-air intake for each is plugged and not allowing sufficient air into the emulsion-tube. Dis-assembly is required to remove and check the emulsion-tube to determine whether it's varnished and contributing to the problem. If you're going to take the carbs apart to check the emulsion-tubes consider "Scotch's Cleaning tool" and clean the bodies properly and quickly. (Ya - I KNOW:)
DG's leak at the collector as there is no gasket/seal likely omitted to keep the collector size reasonable, give ground clearance and still maintain accessibility to the oil filter. I've considered sealing mine with an extreme-heat rated flexible sealant if I ever have to remove the pipes for any reason. In the mean time I don't care. 25+ yrs old and no issues other then a little black soot.

I used the colortune and found it was bright yellow low end all the way up to the high end. Tried turning air screw in and it made no difference in the mixure if it did it was very slight. I'm thinking of changing pilots to the 42.5 and mains to 100 can you give me some guidance if this is the way to go? I also did a clean on the emulsion tube when I had the carbs off.
