There are many good things about living in the Oregon Outback.

One of the bad things is the all-pervasive dust that (among other things) kills fork seals very quickly. Has anybody ever fitted fork boots/gaiters to their 1300? I'm hoping there is a common part number that will work.

Mine's an '82. I will be pulling off the forks soon to mount headlight brackets in any case.

I seem to remember mine had a set when I bought it. The PO fancied himself an engineer (he wasn't), so I can't speak for where the boots came from, what shape they are (currently) in, or if they even worked (probably not). Let me do some digging and I'll get back with you.

Got lucky. The bottom edge fit into the top of the fork lowers like regular gaiters, but I forget how the tops where attached. They might have just been sinched to the fork uppers with hose clamps. Like I said, very high-tech.

Sure! How's 20 bucks plus shipping sound?

(I just checked them- no tears that I could see, and still quite pliable.)

I don't think I ever got back to you...

Anyway, $20 sounds fine. Pack them up and have them weighed and I'll send the money via PayPal.

What's you e-mail address?

I've accumulated quite a pile of parts over the winter, so I'm psyched to get going now that we're getting some beautiful days!

Richard
