I second what MIkeZ says.

The seal is a Cup Seal that has a specific shape and function. There is more than plain O-Rings in those master cylinders.

Cup Seal
Square cut seal
bottom dust boot.

If you google master cylinder sleeve then you will find a few places around Brisbane that do stainless sleeves for MCs that size.
I had a rear MC on my wifes BMW done a while ago and it was a great job but whatever you decide leave Master Cylinder Exchange Service at Wynnum of the list, he did a front and rear for me 2 years ago and both were stuffed from the start and I had a hell of a time getting my money back.

Thank you all for your input. I am going to try some brake specialists to see if they have any seals of the appropriate sizes and replace them that way. The bore is in good condition so I don't think there will be any dramas. If not then I'll get the kit from Germany even though it is quite expensive.

What kind of shape is your Master Cylinder bore in? If it's pitted, like a lot of them are, you may need to hone out the bore.

K&L sells high quality (Small bore) Ball Hones just for this task. Best way to clean up these old master cylinders.

Are your seals really damaged? If not, you may be able to get by re-using them with a proper bore hone and clean????
