The tank cap for the KZ1300 A1-A3 and the B2 is part # 15048-1019. That Ebay listing which states tank cap for the KAWASAKI KZ400H1 KZ440A1/A2/A3/A4 KZ440D1-D6/G1 KZ550D" is part # 51048-1018 so not the same tank cap. The Ebay listing is misleading. Good old www.Partzilla.com is a godsend for looking up parts and finding where else they are used.

I really just need a complete, good used cap. Tried the alternate application as suggested, but I ordered a $5 cap for one of those bikes (don't recall which) and the cap is shorter, and the lock cylinder doesn't interchange.

Here's a listing for a KZ440 cap that looks shorter and doesn't have the vent. I believe one similar to this is what I bought and couldn't make work.

Your cap is destroyed?? How so?? If it's a key issue, can't a locksmith fix you up? Bad chrome? Get it replated? StanG has had a lot of pieces replated. Just asking

The bottom half of a key was stuck in the cylinder. A drill was used to remove it. The lock cylinder is what's messed up, the actual cap is fine.

I just thought it would be easier to find a whole cap instead of just a lock cylinder

Never ceases to amaze me how many butchers own screwdrivers, hammers, chisels, drills and have the lack of brains to use them. Sorry to hear that you acquired the bike with that kind of issue bearing in mind that the rest of the bike was in mint condition needing some work. I guess that if the gas cap is the worst that you have to deal with all things considered that's not too bad.
