Here's my solution. I checked the reed cages I have laying around. 1 set is from an rd350 Yamaha and the other set is from a sx700 Yamaha snowmobile. I had them because I was going to put reed valves in my Kawasaki H2 750cc but decided to consolidate my projects down to something more manageable so I got rid of the other bikes.

So, this reed mics up at .018". All I have to do is make a hole .512" in diameter and an O.D. of .666 and install. Piece of cake right?

I'm almost in the mood to call up the PO and give him an ass kicking.

Starting the stopwatch now. We'll see how long it takes to correct this problem because of a dumb ass who didn't know what he was doing #@$%@#%@

There you go 54 minutes. Done.

First pic old washer on top of new

Shazzam!!! Side by each.

now if you're interested in trying this, I drilled out a small hole through the reed first (around a 3/16" hole) then mounted a tapered burr in the end of my Dewalt cordless drill and spin it at about 60 rpm and massaged the reed over the end of the tapered burr and kept checking till I got to .512", then held the old fiber washer over top of the new washer and filed to O.D. down till I got really close, then hand filed the remainder and kept checking the width of the washer with my vernier until the width was at 2mm (difference between the id and the od.)

Necessity is the mother of invention. Hmmm Yammy reed in a Kaw carb, it's a Yammykaw now.

Well done kawboy! Certainly an over-all better option then "stacking" shims when you are capable of producing 1 per carb.

Zed_Thirteen,
Did you get your problem sorted out yet? I'd be happy to make you one up since I've got material left over and the tooling is still out on the bench. It's the least I can do as thanks for posting your issue. You've saved me a bag of trouble here.

Send me a PM with your mailing address if you want one.
