Regarding the missing nut. When I reassembled my cam cover after polishing it I looked at this nut/bolt configuration and did not like it.....exactly for this reason, so I reversed the assembly. The head of the screw is now on the inside, through the threaded holes in the cover, with the nut on the top (outside) of the cover; with Loctite.
